carman-Ainsworth, lansing everett, and michigan state university unite to be activist for the flint water crisis.
The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University (Broad MSU) invites Chicago-based artist Jan Tichy to embark on the next iteration of the MSU Federal Credit Union Artist Studio Series. This series offers opportunities for artists to interact with the community through site-specific installations presented alongside educational encounters that offer insight into the artists’ creative process. Specifically, Tichy has been invited to address the Flint water crisis.
To do this, and in light of the sensitivities around the situation in Flint at present, the artist will work with students of the Lansing Everett High School in Ms. Pam Collins’s class and with English 12 students from Ms. Jessyca Mathews’s class at Carman-Ainsworth High School. Together the students will be creating a literal and figurative pipeline between these two communities in order to creating a literal and figurative pipeline between these two communities in order to discuss safe water, community activism, and the power of art to generate public awareness, to make the invisible visible.
